Extended school

What is an Extended School?

Extended schools work with the local authority, local organisations and other schools to provide access to a core offer of extended services, aimed at meeting all outcomes of the Every Child Matters Agenda. The core offer consists of:

  • A varied menu of activities (including study support, sport, music, arts and crafts, drama and volunteering and business and enterprise activities) for both primary and secondary aged students before school, at lunchtime, after school and in the school holidays.
  • Childcare from 8:00am - 6:00pm, 48 weeks of the year for primary students.
  • Parenting support including family learning, information sessions and parent groups.
  • Swift and easy access to targeted and specialist services such as speech and language therapy.
  • Community access to facilities including adult learning, ICT and sports facilities in the evenings and at weekends.

Globe Academy is proud to deliver the full core offer of services. For further details of the services provided please see the individual sections on the panel on the left hand side.
