28 March 2012
Dear Parents/Carers
Industrial Action – Wednesday 28 March 2012 As you will be aware, strike action is to be undertaken by
teachers on 28 March 2012. This is in response to the Government’s proposals regarding their pensions.
This action is affecting the majority of schools in Southwark and nationally.
The number of staff who intend to withdraw their labour means it is not possible for the school to remain open safely.
With regret, I have to inform you that the school will therefore be closed on Wednesday 28 March 2012 to all students.
Our staff are, as you know, highly committed to their work, and this has not been an easy decision for them to make. It is an indicator of the very strong feelings about this issue that they have made this very difficult choice. Those staff not taking action will be in school as normal on Wednesday.
At this stage we are hoping to be able to provide a day of Masterclasses and intervention for Year 11 students and further details will be provided to those students tomorrow.
School will reopen on Thursday 29 March at the normal time. Please note that this is the last day of term
